All you need to know about the 2018 Toyota Rush compact SUV

The compact SUV is the fastest growing segment across the world and with every new launch from various manufacturers, the segment is continuously expanding. Every manufacturer is trying to grab a piece of the pie. Meanwhile, the Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota has managed to come up with the facelift version of its popular compact SUV, the Toyota Rush. It has unwrapped the 2018 Toyota Rush for the Indonesian market.

The sub-compact SUV, Toyota Rush is already on sale in the markets of Indonesia and Malaysia. Now, the car has entered its next generation and recently made its first public appearance in Indonesia. However, the Indian debut of the model is awaiting an official announcement from the manufacturer.

The 2018 Toyota Rush has received comprehensive updates in its styling along with the additions of goodies. Let’s know more about the upcoming model from Toyota.

Exterior design

The exterior aesthetic of the car, which is inspired by the Daihatsu FT concept looks to be quite appealing with the host of cosmetic changes over the existing model. The face of the car looks aggressively designed with a newly designed all-black four-slatted grille, which gets a chrome outline. Along with this, the front fascia of the car flaunts the revised headlamps cluster with bi-beam LED projectors, L-shaped DRLs and a silver-garnished bumper with foglamps.

The side profile of the car looks muscular with creases and curves at the right places. The entry-level variant receives 16-inch alloy wheels, while the top-end trims sports 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Coming to the rear of the car, it receives high-mounted LED stop lamp and LED taillights. Along with these, the rear profile of the car gets a sportier rear-bumper and a rear spoiler. The ground clearance of the car is 220mm.

Interior features

The interior of the seven-seater sub-compact SUV, Toyota Rush has been revised aesthetically as well as it gets significant additions to the feature list as well. The cabin of the car looks to be superior visually from the existing Toyota Rush with the refreshing dual-tone finish along with a newly designed dashboard.

The 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system of the car comes with the support of Miracast and Weblink, which makes it compatible with your smartphones. The connectivity features of the USB, Bluetooth and AUX are also present.

In the safety department of the car, it gets six airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD, hill start assist, ISOFIX and stability control. The Engine Mechanism

The Indonesian-spec model features a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is capable enough to deliver a maximum power output of 103 bhp against a peak torque of 140 Nm. The transmission option for the car includes a five-speed manual gearbox and a four-speed automatic gearbox. The manual version is available in the entry-level variants, while the automatic unit comes in the top-end trims. The front-wheel-drive (FWD) system is standard across all the variants.

However, it is speculated that the Indian-spec Toyota Rush could also get a 1.4-litre four-cylinder diesel powertrain that can develop a maximum power output of 87 bhp and a peak torque of 205 Nm.

Is it coming to India?

The next-generation Toyota Rush will be up against the likes of other compact SUVs like Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Though the India launch of the car has not been announced, yet one can expect the car coming to India considering the rapid growth of compact SUV segment in the country.

The Toyota Rush is expected to be launched in 2018 globally. As of now, Toyota does not have a compact SUV in India and if the Rush launches in the country, it would be a vital move from the manufacturer.
